Permanent and contract Smoking Ban Enforcement Officer jobs
Passed in 2006, The Health Act requires all work places, public places and vehicles used for work purposes to operate smoke free environments and it is down to local councils to enforce the ban. Council smoking enforcement jobs involve providing education & advice to businesses as well as issuing penalty notices when appropriate.
The various councils throughout the country work closely with businesses ensuring that everyone understands the law as well as speaking to individuals and businesses that are in breach of the current regulations. Anyone who smokes in a designated smoke free place could face an on the spot fine of £50 (or £200 if the matter goes to court) and smoking enforcement officers have the power to issue these penalty notices.
Those in charge of smoke free business/community environments or vehicles are liable to face fines under two different offences; failing to display no-smoking signs and failing to prevent smoking in a smoke free place. Smoking enforcement officer jobs therefore require candidates with excellent communication skills.
