Permanent and temporary Scenes of Crime Investigation jobs
Crime scene investigators (CSIs) are also known as scenes of crime officers (SOCOs). Jobs under these titles involve attending crime scenes to look for evidence and record their findings carefully so that the crime can be investigated properly.
This may be done with the naked eye, dusting for fingerprints, taking photographs or using highly specialised and sensitive police evidence collection equipment. If you have police experience this would certainly be beneficial for these jobs, although for the right candidates there are some training programmes available. You will be working in a large team of civilians alongside the local police force and as such your hours may be based on shift work.
Time will be split between being out on site collecting the evidence, which could be anywhere where a crime has been committed, and back in the offices/labs recording and logging everything you have found. Your attributes of patience and calmness under pressure will be put to the test in this challenging and demanding job role.
