The aim of child protection officers is to decide what risk, if any, there is to the child/children. You may have to work alongside the police in more serious matters, and your work will be split between working in the office and going out on visits. When an investigation takes place it would be your job to arrange to see the parents or guardians in order to talk about the concerns and act impartially, listening to the parents views on the matters and working out what is in the best interests of the child.

Jobs in child protection require a dedicated individual who is able to make rational decisions in a sometimes emotionally difficult situation, along with the ability to work with parents, the police and the local council.
